At RM Driveways & Landscaping, we recently completed a full driveway transformation for a property just outside Ivybridge. This project combined quality materials, careful ground preparation, and a stylish finish that will last for years to come.
The Challenge
The original driveway had aged and was no longer fit for purpose, with poor surface condition and inadequate drainage. The client wanted a modern, low-maintenance surface that complemented the look of their home, and would stand the test of time.
What We Did
We carried out a complete excavation of the existing driveway and removed all unstable ground. Once cleared, we installed a brand new MOT Type 1 sub-base, compacted and levelled to provide a strong foundation for years of use. This is a critical step in any professional block paving installation, ensuring longevity and preventing future movement.
We then installed Tobermore Shannon block paving in Slate, a popular modern colour that offers a sleek, contemporary finish. Shannon blocks are smooth, stylish, and perfect for creating a clean look without sacrificing strength or durability.
To improve drainage and prevent future water pooling, we added an ACO channel drain system along the edge of the drive, integrated neatly into the block layout for both function and style.
As part of the wider works, we also replaced the boundary fencing, giving the whole frontage a fresh and secure appearance.
